Overview
Allied Yacht is a full-stack SaaS platform that automates the yacht transport lifecycle — from multi-channel quoting to booking, contracts, and post-booking tracking. It combines instant, guest-friendly quoting, a sophisticated sailing-aware pricing engine, DocuSign e-signatures, and an OpenAI-powered assistant inside a secure admin dashboard to dramatically reduce turnaround time and increase conversion rates.
The Challenge
The client relied on manual, email-based quoting across multiple channels (phone, email, chat) with inconsistent pricing rules for different routes, seasonal/sailing overrides, insurance add-ons, and complex weight/size adjustments. Quotes were fragile (manual edits, no immutable provenance), signing required paper or clunky PDFs, and agents spent hours producing a single quote. The product needed regulatory-grade audit trails, enterprise RBAC, and the ability to scale to hundreds of daily quotes.
The Solution
- Architecture: Frontend: Next.js 14 + TypeScript + Tailwind CSS Backend: Strapi v5 CMS + PostgreSQL with Prisma ORM Auth: NextAuth.js (Google, Apple, Email/Password) AI: OpenAI for intent classification, knowledge-base retrieval, and pre-filling quote data Contracts: DocuSign integrated for multi-step signing flows Email: Postmark for transactional messages Cache: Redis multi-tier caching for pricing and KB responses Security: RBAC, audit logging, and immutable quote hashing (SHA-256) Testing: Vitest, Jest, Playwright
- Key implementations: Instant Quote Modal + Step-by-step Quote Builder: Guest checkout and account linking flows; pre-fill from AI-extracted yacht specs. Pricing Engine: Route-pair defaults, sailing-specific overrides, weight/size adjustments, insurance calculation, and multi-tier pricing (Economy, Standard, Express, Premium). Immutable Quote System: Each finalized quote stores a SHA-256 hash and immutable record to support audits and disputes. AI Assistant: Handles intent classification, responds from knowledge base (Strapi-managed FAQs & articles), extracts yacht specs from free text, and suggests pre-filled quote parameters. Booking & Contracts: Quote-to-booking conversion with DocuSign multi-step signature workflows and booking status tracking. Performance & Reliability: Redis caching, Prisma connection pooling, and a multi-tier cache invalidation strategy for pricing changes. Compliance & Logging: Detailed audit trails on quotes, bookings, price changes, and signature events.
